Boswells Tree Surgeons - We want to stand out
Keith Cox from Boswells wasn't happy with his original site. He felt that many of the websites used by tree surgery companies were ridden with image clichés, and few offered much in the way of information to explain the processes and implications of tree maintenance to customers.
To start with, the Village Websmith for the Berkshire area created a new, clean graphical look with a stylised tree logo instead of the rather 'done to death' tree silouettes so often used by his competitors. This tied in with rotating images from the many hundreds of photographs that Keith provided. The trick was to mix the very grand images of stately homes with more down to earth pictures so that no one sector of the market was highlighted. Instead, the message that all types of tree and hedge maintenance work was welcome.
With a very broad range of services and a huge amount of information relating to the company's policy of developing people from within, their commitment to the environment and the very local nature of the services offered, there was quite a challenge to fit it all in without overwhelming visitors. This was achieved by using a free height page layout with tabbed menu inner layout to break the pages up into topics, which visitors could browse through at their own pace. Background information on the trees found in Britain was provided through links to the Woodland Trust website.
